Norman police are investigating two burglary incidents reported at the Calloway House Apartments, located at 1200 E. Lindsey Street. The incidents, which occurred less than a week apart, have left residents concerned as authorities work to determine if they are connected.

What Happened

The most recent incident occurred on September 27. According to the Norman Police Department, officers responded to a burglary in progress at the Calloway House after a resident called 911. The resident reported waking up to find a stranger inside their room. The individual left the apartment before officers arrived.

Police say the suspect then entered a second apartment in the complex. Officers cleared the second apartment before learning the suspect had moved on to a third unit. There, officers made contact with the individual, identified as Gavin Vanderven, a resident of the third apartment. Vanderven was arrested and is now facing two counts of burglary.

Previous Incident

Authorities say another similar incident was reported at the same apartment complex on September 21. In that case, a resident told police they woke up to find a stranger rifling through their drawers. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived and was not located.

The Norman Police Department's Criminal Investigations Section is handling both cases. Investigators are working to determine if the two incidents are connected.
